The UK Department for International Development (DFID) funded the Strengthening the AIDS Response in Zambia programme, called STARZ, from 2004 until 2009. Twenty million pounds of funding has supported the response in every sector: public, private and civil society. This film documents the stories of those who helped turned the vision of STARZ into reality.

IFC’s South Africa SME Banking Program

IFC’s South African Small and Medium Enterprise Banking Program, ran from 2006 to 2009. Thanks to the program’s support IFC’s partners provided over $192 million in loans to more than 11,000 smaller businesses. IFC has also helped create positive credit profiles for 11,000 construction firms, winning them easier and faster access to credit.

WISHING US AWAY

Jerry Marobyane became involved in the struggle against apartheid at the age of 14. The violence he experienced during that time has left him deeply scarred. Nearly two decades later he tries to exorcise the ghosts of the past by attending a unique eco-therapy camp for ex-combatants. This is the beginning of his journey to re-claim his life and come to terms with the past.
